Marland School is a specialist education provider for boys with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. The Headmaster approached me to talk about the possibility of rebranding the school. They were setting up a second site in the nearby town of Barnstaple, and wanted to look at moving away from the location specific name of the school.
The proposal I created revolves around the school’s ethos of building trust between the staff and students – this is such a central tenet to what they do that the word ‘Trust’ seemed like an obvious choice for their name.
The logo represents this two-way flow of trust with its symmetry: the logo reads the same forwards and backwards.
This feature of the logo adds an extra layer to the trust element. Student’s have the opportunity to see their work featured in the school’s branding, but have to take responsibility for that work being appropriate for the public.
